PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

For over 45 years the GVLA Board has worked to preserve and enhance the rural character of Green Valley. The issues and focus vary from year to year and 2017 has largely been one of “follow-through” committee efforts.

Green Valley is a special place and coming home is always good.  My wife and I have lived here for ten years and we enjoy our “staycations.”  As we walk our dog along Green Valley Road, we see friends and neighbors. Everyone nods or waves. People stop and chat. We pause at the bridge over Green Valley Creek to check on the recovery from the heavy water flows of last winter and observe the pools of fish or catch a glimpse of the resident bobcat. This is home and worth preserving and making better…

There are strong pressures for Green Valley to change.  There is an ongoing search for regional water solutions, new developments planned for Middle Green Valley, a trend toward more agro tourism, the sale of Falls School site and potential long-term impacts on the Fire Station location, the opening of Rockville Trails Preserve for expanded recreation opportunities and the creation of Neighborhood Watch to keep the area more informed and safe. GVLA is committed to being involved in these changes for the betterment of the community.  Thank you for your support!
